The Challenge

The client manufactures different types of glasses and tons of them per day. Tracking the glasses from procurement to disposal was challenging as it was performed manually and updated in the backend. Especially tracking the missing or damaged glasses during a project or from one project zone to another was backbreaking and tiresome, resulting in increased production cost and total cost of ownership. Also, the client wanted a web application for administration for managing the users in each plant. The client wanted to hire Android app developers that are best-in-class and affordable at the same time.

Our Approach

The challenge for Hakuna Matata’s team was to utilize the existing app and convert all the static data to dynamic data like Plant, User, Process Level etc; enabling offline sync; UI enhancement; NFC read and write capability; RFID reader for accessing tags on the materials. We segmented the challenges and started executing one by one to complete the project on time. 

Our Solution

As a 14-year-old mobile app development company, our experience of working with different clients in Chennai and India helped us understand the requirements quickly. Our Android app developers started with the Android application (coupled with NFC reader) for product traceability to enable staff to keep a check on work in progress of products under manufacturing. RFID tags are used in the glasses for tracking them and beacons were used to track the glass materials when they are in transit from one project zone to another. Our seasoned web application developers developed a web CMS for admin to add the new users on the plant and this helped the entire material tracking process be seamless and simple. With this system in place, the client was able to accelerate the production speed and deliver products on time without any hassle and at a reduced cost.
